THE NAME
RECYCLE YOUR DARLING
‘Kill your darling’. A term from the arts. Let a good element disappear for a higher purpose, an even better text, product etc. A process that always hurts a little. Because you don’t want to say goodbye at all. But once you have seen that it makes things better, it is inevitable. And mostly a matter of daring to implement it.
This is how I discovered, that an artwork I was working on would become much better if I added a completely different – and finished – artwork. This one had the same theme and fitted seamlessly into the new larger one.
I ‘just had’ to sacrifice the old artwork. It was a favourite artwork with the public (and myself) and by now had been exhibited a few times. But yes, once seen, inevitable….
With that, the name was born:
Recycle your darling, because that’s what I did.
Transforming a beloved piece of art for a greater purpose, merging it into a new, bigger piece of art, from recycled material.
In this case, a double recycling. Because the smaller work was also already a recycleart.
See You In Paradise is the artwork below that this is about.

Series Revised
Another series I have been working on for a long time is Revisited.
Paintings I revisit – sometimes after many years. I revise them, paint in parts, make them better. I continue on them, adding more and more layers. The original content remains and remains visible.
An additional element in this series is that I am now translating experience gained with assemblages of recycle art into painting on canvas.
My artworks keep moving. The challenge is to keep the image fresh, despite the many layers.
