Creating with a lot of details is what keeps me busy the last few years. Creating with a lot of details is what keeps me busy the last few years. My recent paintings too. Calm in the chaos. Chaos in peace. A contradiction, which turns out not to be the case.

Broadened, I also experience our world at the moment. Chaos, lots of movement. It’s not that I express an opinion with my art, I consider more. The major movements of the moment and represent them with complex works of art. To mirror you. As soon as a quiet period arrives, you will also see it reflected in my work.

Unveil is the direct sequel to This Autumn, a small painting from October 2022.

For this large painting I started from a tranquil, transparent blue surface. Then I added many elements, purely on feeling and atmosphere. To finally decide that it’s finished.

The title has grown in line with the canvas. In the end I expressed the underlying feeling that was surrounding me during this period: The revealing of a new phase. Worldwide tangible, private too. But maybe it’s mostly hope. A Tip of the Veil, on the threshold of the year.

Even more beautiful in English than in Dutch.

The canvas is narrow and high as a room.
Colorful and delicate at the same time.
Complicated and open.
Detailed but also calm.
And especially fresh blue.
